After the post of the past few hours, AMD puts in place a clear maneuver to disrupt NVIDIA’s upcoming announcement of GeForce RTX 4000 video gaming cards. Radeon Division Senior Vice President and General Manager Scott Herkelman chose Twitter to inform enthusiasts that gaming video cards based on RDNA architecture 3probably part of the Radeon RX 7000 family, will be unveiled on November 3.
With RDNA 3 AMD plans to improve performance per watt over RDNA 2 architecture by over 50%. The new range of GPUs will be the first in the desktop industry to feature a multi-chip design, also known as MCM (Multi Chip Module), on a single package. In this way AMD aims to have greater flexibility in terms of design, production processes and therefore costs, with possible implications also on final prices.
For RDNA 3 AMD intends to take advantage of TSMC’s 5-nanometer process, implementing a next-generation Infinity Cache. As for the offer, at least three RDNA 3 GPUs are expected, with the top of the range Navi 31 that could offer 12,288 stream processors, more than double that of Navi 21the graphics chip on board the top of the range of the RX 6000 series.
