We have the premiere of the new Xiaomi smartwatch in the form of Redmi Watch 2 Lite, which is a direct successor, and thus an improvement over the Redmi Watch Lite model. You have to agree with that … but with one small exception, which will be discussed in a moment. If you are interested in the price difference, the one on the day of the debut is all $ 5 ($ 64 vs $ 69), so it should be more, not PLN 250, but PLN 275.
First moments with Redmi Watch 2 Lite
Every smartwatch owner knows how easy it is to make friends with a new “smart watch”. Especially if you already have the Xiaomi Wear app installed on your phone with an account assigned to it. After unpacking the cardboard box, i.e. simply removing the cover from the base, we can immediately turn on Redmi Watch 2 Lite, connect to it via Bluetooth and wear it on the hand – we can adjust the rest from the application or the display itself.

Before that, however, it is worth having a look at the manual and recharge the built-in battery using the included USB-A cable to the 2-pin magnetic connector, which the machine falls into the right place. Charging itself takes up to two hours, so relatively short … if you plan your stay at the socket or laptop well.
Appearance, materials and workmanship
The tests concern black, which is the most common and versatile color version, in which black is everywhere – from stripes to the main module. Compared to its predecessor, Redmi Watch 2 Lite does not differ in these matters almost at all and even the size has not changed much (41.2 x 35.3 x 10.7 mm vs 41 x 35 x 11.9 mm) while maintaining the same weight at the level of 35 grams. The same was done in terms of individual elements, choosing interchangeable strips 2 cm wide, made of thermoplastic polyurethane. It is complemented by an antibacterial band that keeps the rest of the strap in check and a slightly darker buckle made of hard plastic. Removing this wristband is simple and comes down to a simple button.
Hard plastic also builds the main module with a water resistance rating of up to 5 atmospheres, which has three most important elements. I am talking about a plastic “tic-tray” button in the middle of the right edge, a set of sensors on the bottom with charging pins and a display on the top. Although the protective glass used has pleasantly rounded edges all the way to the outer edge, underneath it there is still an LCD panel, but not better quality IPS, but TFT. Although it is larger than the previous model (1.55 vs 1.4 inches) and also has more pixels (360 x 320 vs 320 x 320), it is slightly lower quality due to older technology and less pronounced due to the decrease in pixel density from 323 to 311 pixels per inch.

You can be sure, however, that without comparing the two models side by side, you will have problems pointing to the better screen, but if you have the opportunity, you will notice slightly worse viewing angles, colors and slightly more jagged edges. The display of the new Redmi Watch 2 Lite is larger and now also nicely rounded at the corners and that should be the most important thing for most. Unfortunately, the smartwatch still has a large frame width around, although much smaller than its predecessor, which is confirmed by the difference in how much screen the display occupies (54% vs 44%).
Significant improvements have been made “under the hood”, matching the well-known operating system, the presence of an independent GPS (GPS / GLONASS / BDS / Galileo) and Bluetooth 5.0 connection. However, Xiaomi added a blood oxygen sensor to the set and a gyroscope next to the compass, accelerometer and heart rate sensor. She also took care of increasing the capacity of the lithium-ion battery from 230 to 262 mAh and rightly so, because a larger screen and additional equipment will eat it up at a faster pace. According to the manufacturer, it is possible to use up to 10 days on a single charge for normal use and up to 5 days for intensive use.
Redmi Watch 2 Lite functions and application
As befits an advanced smartwatch, this Xiaomi proposal offers a whole range of possibilities characteristic of smartwatches. Therefore, it provides the option of tracking the level of stress, steps, calories burned, the number of wakes during the day, heart rate, blood oxygen level, or sleep patterns, as well as the ability to view the weather from the level of a smartphone, view the notifications provided on a regular basis (Polish characters and a bit of information are displayed). truncated emotes), or phone calls that can be rejected or muted. For this purpose, however, you must ensure that you grant a number of permits for the Xiaomi Wear application.

Although we will call Redmi Watch 2 Lite a smartwatch rather than a smartband, the manufacturer took care of a large number of training modes. I am talking not about a dozen or several dozen, but more than a hundred, with a whole lot of specific shapes, even a specific type of dance. There were also options for a flashlight, “find my phone”, an alarm clock with vibration, a stopwatch, breathing exercises, a timer, adjusting the brightness on the level of 1-6, wake-up options when lifting, adjusting individual tabs, “do not disturb” mode, reminding to move after sitting for too long, controlling music, measuring VO2 max and overall energy level, implementation of the PAI plan (these three measurements have not been carried out for me), tracking the menstrual cycle, or even shooting photos from the smartwatch.
It is also worth mentioning the possibilities of Xiaomi Wear, an application that is an extension of the measuring function that the smartwatch has to offer. It is in the application that we adjust the regularity and degree of readings, adjust a few additional settings and, above all, view the details of the data collected about us, which are saved in the history. Redmi Watch 2 Lite test – summary and impressions of use
I must admit that if someone wanted to replace their Redmi Watch Lite with Redmi Watch 2 Lite, I would definitely advise against it – the improvements are simply not worth it to replace such a new smartwatch. However, I must also convey to Xiaomi that it has planned the development of this family of smart watches well and listened to the voices of users and Watch Lite testers. This is evidenced by the addition of equipment for measuring the intensity of oxygen in the blood, the development of the existing functions, including the addition of 24/7 sleep cycle tracking, including naps, and the enlargement of the screen while getting rid of cavernous frames from the display.
From my point of view, i.e. someone who does not like smartwatches, the Redmi Watch 2 Lite made a similar impression as the Redmi Watch Lite – as a gadget, an accessory for people interested in their health condition, who, in addition, like to watch their training progress and stand guard of your body, the equipment in such a price range works great. It will accompany us, in turn, usually from 6-8 days on a single charge, which is also not a bad result. Therefore, on my part, Redmi Watch 2 Lite definitely deserves a recommendation.
