Remote weapon module for armored personnel carriers, i.e. Protector RS4 for Boxers 8x8

The KONGSBERG company boasted about the latest contract signed with KMW, which is also the second one for the delivery of the Protector RS4 remote weapon module for the German army. This time around, the contract includes the integration of the Protector RS4 with the 8 × 8 Boxer armored vehicles as part of the drive to develop a new heavy duty variant of the Fire Support Team (JFST).

The aforementioned contract covers the development and delivery of the prototype Boxer transporters (A2 version) equipped with the Protector RS4, as well as the testing of this new configuration. If these show the sense of sticking to this connection, the JFSTsw development program will go into series production, providing the Bundeswehr with new vehicles to supervise artillery positions in conjunction with reconnaissance.

The Protector RS4 Remote Weapon Module is designed and built to operate in extreme environmental conditions to allow soldiers to operate from a safe position and use stabilized precision optics and a laser to observe, detect and engage targets with greater accuracy. Its capabilities include equipment with 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns and 40 mm grenade launchers at the forefront, but it can also use the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank guided missiles in the form of a single launcher.
