Returnal, the exclusive PS5 game will arrive on PC via Steam

According to a Steam listing discovered yesterday by video game leaker @NibellionSony is going to pull her up now PS5 exclusive video game, Returnal, for PC. Although the name is not directly mentioned in the list, it does refer to the “sisyphus tower”, which really is a recently implemented game mode in a Free DLC of this game.

This is great news for the PC community because, on the one hand, this game was within the massive filtration what about Geforce Now, giving us a chance that others on that list will also come to PC. On the other hand, it is a game that has received very good reviews on platforms such as Metacritic, currently with a 86/100 de Metascore and already a lower 73/100 user score.

Returnal was the winner of the 2022 BAFTA Awards

Returnal is a third-person shooter game developed by the Finnish studio Housemarque. This takes place on an alien planet called Atropos, where the protagonist, Selene, is unable to die permanently. With this synopsis, the game combines elements of the genre roguelike (because with each death you resurrect and start over), with touches of horror psychological due to the history and Lovecraftian scenarios and, to this, we would add a combat typical of a bullet hell.

The game went on sale for PS5 on April 30, 2021 and just 2 months later, Housemarque, the company that created it, was acquired by PlayStation. Although Returnal did not achieve the sales of the popular triple AAA, this one sold 560,000 copies 3 months laterin July 2021. In addition, it triumphed in the 18th edition of the BAFTA Games Awards; becoming the most awarded game of this show.

However, not everything would be so beautiful and we do not know anything about the date on which this port would be released for PC. Considering the history of ports of exclusive games previous generation:

• God of War came out for PS4 in April 2018 and the PC port was in January 2022.
• Days Gone released in April 2019 for PS4 and arrived in May 2021 for PC.
• Horizon Zero Dawn launched in February 2017 for PS4 and arrived in August 2020 for PC.
• Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection has been on PS4 since 2016/2017 and on PC we assume it will be released on June 20, 2022.

The first game ported from PS5 to PC

This leaves us with a time between 2 to 4 years (removing the Uncharted case) for the transition from PlayStation 4 exclusivo a PC. In the case of Returnal, we know that it has been released for just over a year, so we can say that it is relatively early to say a date. However, in a recent presentation to investors; Jim RyanCEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment stated that the company is trying to expand your presence in PC games and smartphones.

If memory serves, this would be the primer port of a game PS5 exclusive for PCthat if Ryan’s words are true, we could enjoy a larger catalog of PS5 exclusives on PC in the future.
