Rocket exercises in Russia can boldly go down in history as the largest exercises in decades

Vladimir Putin gave the order, and so there were large-scale missile exercises in Russia using ballistic, maneuvering and even hypersonic missiles. This is another element of the drive to invade Ukraine – the land forces and the fleet are ready, so now the Russian Federation has decided to check how the arsenal of their missiles will perform during the war.

A major missile exercise has just taken place in Russia

In this veritable demonstration of Russia’s combat potential in the field of missiles, a series of exercises were carried out in various regions of the country, designed to strongly warn NATO countries and Ukraine with what power they may have to face. The Air and Space Forces, the Northern and Black Sea Fleets, the Southern Military District and the Rocket Forces of Strategic Purpose participated in the exercises.

Details remain a mystery, but it is certain that the tests involved the Ch-47M2 Kindżał hypersonic missile, which can fly with a high-explosive or thermonuclear warhead up to 50 kilotons. The Kalibr-PŁ maneuvering missiles, the R-29RMU ballistic missile and the 3M22 Cirkon hypersonic anti-ship missile were fired from surface ships and submarines, and the 9K720 maneuvering missile with 9M728 and modernized 9M729 maneuvering missiles was tested at the test range.

Going further into the details of Russia’s large missile exercises, the strategic bombers most likely fired the Ch-55/101/102 or Ch-101/102 cruise missiles, and the RS-24 Jars intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome.
