Ryzen processors in 2022. We got to know AMD’s plans

During a special presentation celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Ryzens, AMD confirmed the path it had taken with their development. In other words, we learned how Ryzen processors will be developed in 2022.

What awaits Ryzen processors in 2022?

According to the disclosed information, new Ryzen will be released in the first quarter of 2022. We are talking about Ryzen 5000/6000 (the name remains unknown at the moment), which will use the current Zen 3 architecture, but combine it with 64 MB of additional 3D Vertical Cache. It is said that this add-on provides a 4 to 25% increase in gaming performance, which gives the impression of not so much an improvement as an entry into a new generation of processors.

It is also a mystery whether these Ryzen will remain on the AM4 and the same motherboards. This is very likely, as in the same year, but at the end of it, the real new-generation Ryzen based on the Zen 4 architecture will debut. So we’re talking about the AMD Ryzen 6000/7000.

They will hit the market with all-new AM5 motherboards, providing DDR5 and PCIe support all year after Intel with Alder Lake-S does. Interestingly, AMD has already confirmed the compatibility of the coolers between AM4 and AM5. More details will come in the future.
