Samsung confirms it will announce its new Exynos with RDNA2 GPU on January 11

Through a short 7-second video, Samsung confirmed through its Twitter account that next January 11 it will the official announcement of the new Exynos with AMD RDNA2 GPU. In this way, there is less than expected to know how the first GPU for AMD smartphones will behave, which could revolutionize gaming on smartphones thanks to its different technologies.

Recall that AMD and Samsung announced their collaboration in 2019 with the aim of combine AMD Radeon graphics with Samsung’s SoC ARM design. Through it, it seeks to take the graphics performance of Exynos chips to a new level and thus compete with Apple’s Bionic SoCs and Qualcomm’s Adreno GPUs. Samsung has lagged behind these competitors for years, but the RDNA2 integration could be the help you need to change the rules of the game.

According to some leaked benchmarks, this new GPU has higher graphics power than Apple’s A14 in synthetic tests, and Samsung even hinted that it could have the same performance as a previous generation console. In addition, the six RDNA2 compute units with 384 streaming processors promise to bring ray-tracing support to mobile devices, even in this low-power environment, allowing mobile game developers to take their games to new levels thanks to the graphical enhancements provided by this technology.

CPU performance may not beat the competition

Regarding CPU performance, Leaks Suggest Apple’s Chip Outperforms Exynos 2200 in both single-core and multi-core tests. However, we must bear in mind that chips and software still under development were used for these tests. Regardless, CPU performance remains competitive and GPU performance is even more impressive.

Finally, we will not have to wait much longer as Samsung will officially reveal all the details of the new Exynos 2200 on January 11. Hopefully, in addition to the technical details and official benchmarks, we can also see the Exynos 2200 in action in a game.

Eager to see the arrival of RDNA2 to smartphones with the Exynos 2200?
