Scythe Fuma 2 in the test – asymmetrical all-rounder for hot hours

Scythe Fuma 2 in the test – asymmetrical all-rounder for hot hours

If you take a look at the German charts – those of the CPU coolers, of course – then the coolers from the manufacturer Scythe jostle with beQuiet for the top positions. With 18 years of experience in the field of passive and silent cooling, the company registered in Tokyo, including a branch in Germany, should be well prepared for this battle. What exactly makes the Fuma 2 so popular besides the “fits everywhere” design and moderate price, you can find out in the following article:

Packaging / scope of delivery

Apart from a small pad made of foam for padding the cooling fins, the packaging and its interior are completely made of cardboard. Plastic bags are also used sparingly, there is not much rubbish left after unpacking. The outside of the box is completely printed, in addition to product images and features, there are also various specifications and dimensions on the pages.

In addition to mounting brackets and fan clips, our accessories include a generous tube of thermal paste, 4-pin PWM fan splitter and small screwdrivers. The Intel backplate is already prepared, screws and plastic fixings have already been attached in the factory.

Assembly / installation

The existing backplate is used for the AM4 socket, the two silver brackets are mounted with four rubberized spacers and screws. After the two spring-loaded screws have been fixed in the brackets with the screwdriver provided, all that remains is to attach the fans.

In contrast to many other coolers, the fans are only loosely attached to the cooler at the factory, so the Kaze Flex Slim (front) and Kaze Flex 120 (middle) are hooked into place with the different sized clips.
Both fans are generously rubberized and run in opposite directions, which should lead to a higher static pressure. In the picture of the side profile, the asymmetrical design of the Fuma 2 can be seen again. RAM banks are not blocked either on the front or on the back; the rather low installation height of almost 155mm should fit into most cases.

Overall, the cooler is well made, especially the winding heat pipes are impressive. Here and there a few cooling fins are not completely deburred. You shouldn’t expect bloody fingers now, but there is a rough feeling when you stroke them.
