However, called the House of Music, Hungary is not just any museum, but one that in its form and design is a work of art in itself.

House of Music, Hungary is the responsibility of Sou Fujimoto Architects, which has already become famous worldwide for its exciting and eye-catching projects. This music museum is not just a building, but an important part of the Budapest City Park with a thriving forest that is an integral part of the museum.

All because of the roof, which extends beyond the building and resembles a large hole with cheese, not disturbing the few trees that just grow inside the structure. However, not all of the nearly 100 holes are home to some of the “lungs of our Earth”, as most of them function as fireflies.

Despite its surreal appearance, the building fits in surprisingly well into the wooded area, which is guaranteed especially by the low roofline, which is partly inspired by sound waves. The interior, on the other hand, reproduces the surrounding landscape outside thanks to an intricately crafted suspended ceiling decorated with over 30,000 decorative tree leaves.

Ecological elegance is ensured by an energy-saving geothermal heating and cooling system, and educational value is provided by numerous gallery spaces and exhibitions related to music, as well as a “sound dome” consisting of 31 speakers, which allows 60 people to experience sound in 360 degrees.
