Introduction

Hi all !

The power supplies of the RM series at Corsair are not new, the first models dating from 2013. Since then, the different references have followed one another within this range, with versions RMi and RMx a little later. The first RM model has more or less fallen into disuse, until today! Corsair therefore updates the first RMs, targeting people looking for a block without fuss but capable of delivering high-end services. Three powers are available, 650, 750 (the model in our test) and 850 Watts at recommended rates of 105, 115 and 125 € respectively for a 10-year warranty. Let’s take a closer look!

As can be seen, the Corsair RM750 comes with everything a modern mid / high end power supply is supposed to have. First of all, the power available on the single 12 V rail is identical to the power for which the unit is sold, ie 750 Watts. There is therefore no question of adding the different rails to inflate the number on the box, it is a good thing. Then the 80Plus Gold certification, old top of the range at exorbitant price (the 80Plus Titanium nowadays, like the Seasonic Prime Titanium 750) a few years ago allows a high efficiency and a controlled heat release inside the block. . It should be noted that almost even entry-level models are starting to have this certification, the cost price having fallen dramatically in recent years.

The RM750 is not a very compact model, in ATX format but 16 cm in length. This is not a problem for the vast majority of ATX or micro ATX boxes on the market, but be careful if you prefer the mini-ITX (such as Fractal Design Node 304). The innards are cooled by a Hong Hua HA1425M12F-Z, 135mm fan and rifle bearring type bearing, less upscale than FDB or ball bearing. The semi-passive ventilation mode (fan off at rest and up to 300 Watts of load) will interest fans of silence, but this feature is unfortunately not deactivable.

Unpacking and bundle

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a change in the color of the boxes at Corsair. We still find this yellow background with a photo of the RM750 on the front, as well as the mention of the 80Plus Gold certification and the 10-year warranty in addition to the model name. At the rear, we find graphs of efficiency and noise level, as well as dimensions and a table of power distribution. Basically all the necessary information is available, in case you buy this in store on a whim!

Inside, bye bye the veloutine bag that we find in the RMx and RMi to be found with a block in a simple plastic bag, the whole surrounded by two blocks of foam to keep this small mount in place. Well, let’s not hide it, at the editorial office we don’t have to have a veloutine bag that will stay in the box anyway, but the cost reduction compared to RMx and RMi starts here. Likewise, modular cables are not in an individual bag, but loose in a carton.

In addition to the modular cables, Corsair of course adds a power cord, the necessary screws but also a handle of plastic cable ties and a booklet.
