[Test] Prolimatech Ultra Sleek Vortex 120 & 140 mm

Prolimatech, best known for its quality coolers, also produces fans, today I am going to present the latest ones to you, I named the Ultra Sleek Vortex! These fans have the particularity of their extreme fineness of 15mm instead of 25mm for most fans on the market, judge instead:
You would think that such a thin fan does not have the same cooling capacities as a larger fan, Prolimatech claims the opposite, this is what we will see in this test!

As we can see the fans offer on paper very good performance while remaining silent, they are also very light! Will these fans take place in your pc config? This is what we will see 🙂
The box is sober and shows us the main characteristics of the fan, not much to say 🙂
The bundle comes down to 4 screws and an adapter to connect the fan to a molex socket.

As for the 120mm version the bundle consists of 4 screws and an extension to connect the fan to a molex socket. Note that the fan mounts are compatible with 120mm mounts so you can fix it to a 120mm location on your box!
The Prolimatech Sleek Vortex 120mm and 140mm have been tested on the configuration below:
The core i7 875K has been slightly overclocked to 3.2Ghz. The temperatures under load are an average of all the cores for 3 tests of 30 minutes on OCCT, the temperatures at rest were taken after 15mins on the desk (still an average of the 4 cores).
The fans were tested against the control fan the Nexus Basic Silent 12cm (1050 rpm @ 12v), against the Prolimatech blue Vortex 120mm for the Sleek Vortex 120mm and against the Prolimatech Blue Vortex 140mm for the 140mm version of the Sleek Vortex.
As we can see, the Ultra Sleek Vortices defend themselves very well despite the reduced thickness, the 120mm nexus is dropped (even if it turns a little slower however) and they are on a par with their big brothers the Blue Vortex than this. either in 120mm or 140mm version. Suffice to say that this is a very good point for prolimatech, which manages to combine lightness, finesse and performance!
What about noise pollution?
Attention : Part to be taken with a grain of salt, unfortunately not having access to the appropriate equipment and using an android application to take the readings the measurements below are only indicative!
All the fans are silent in 5v, fully all the fans are heard more or less without being really annoying, the nexus is much quieter but the performance is of course felt, there is no really secrets!
In order to show you the performance of these fans I have mounted a system to highlight the air flow of the different fans above. A piece of cardboard is suspended between 2 fans, each fan is 15cm from the cardboard, the one that blows the most pushes the cardboard into the opposing camp!
Each 12cm fan is tested at 800, 1000 and 1200 rpm, the 14cm are tested at 600 and 1000 rpm.
As we can see, the Sleek vortex series is excellent in terms of air flow, at the same speed they circulate more air than the fans present in this test. Prolimatech did a great job with these fans (maybe the 17 blades are not unrelated to these results!).

The Prolimatech Ultra Sleek had the heavy task of doing just as well with 15mm thickness as their 25mm counterparts, and the bet is won! They will be perfect for use on a CPU cooler, in an HTPC box where space is often the sinews of war, or else on a GPU cooler which will save a few grams so as not to weigh down the graphics card too much.
