Health!

Mini-ITX configurations have been on the rise lately and Silverstone is a major player in this market, in fact it is one of the only manufacturers to offer power supplies typically designed for this type of box, namely SFX and SFX-L. Not content with already having a few models in its hood, the brand has recently offered a new version, the SX550! On the program a SFX 80Plus Gold certified power supply equipped with an 8 cm and non-modular fan and all this for a recommended price of 113 € TTC, a sum for a power supply of 550 Watts but it is placed just below its big sister fully modular 600 Watts (which I tested here), the prices should also be lower. Let’s see what the beast has in its belly!

The box could not be more sober, all in black dressed with a little red. There is a photo of the beast accompanied by the logo of the brand, the model as well as its various strengths (SFX format, 550 Watts available at 50 °, 80Plus Gold certification etc.).

At the back the same listing of the strong points but this time in 10 different languages as well as two graphs representing the efficiency as well as the ventilation curve, we can see that the fan will remain between 1500 and 2000 RPM below approximately 70% consumption and will be able to fly at 3500 RPM at 100%.

On the edge the technical characteristics are present as well as a table of the distribution of the power (540 Watts on the 12V all the same) and a listing of the available connectors, all that one needs not to have unpleasant surprises.

When opening we fall directly on the manuals, below we can see the small SX550 in its bag and the power cord. No foam here inside the box but everything does not move too much inside and everything arrived in good condition.

In addition to the Silverstone power supply, of course, the required manuals are included with its power supply, but also a power cord, 4 plastic cable ties as well as 2 sets of screws, cruciforms and hand screws, of your choice! It is a shame not to have an SFX -> ATX adapter like you can have on the SX600-G.
