The best Android smartphones under 200 euros in April 2020

Despite the quarantine period, the Android smartphone market is not stopping. Of course, the difficulties are certainly not lacking, but the manufacturers are still trying to do their best to bring new devices to the market. To give you a concrete example, the last few weeks have seen thearrival in Italy of Wiko View4, Realme 6i and Realme C3. Also there are some interesting discounts in the Xiaomi house. In short, even this month there is a different "meat on fire" to analyze. Let's go to see together which are the best Android smartphones under 200 euros in April 2020. We remind you that the prices taken into consideration are only those present on Amazon Italy or on the official websites of the respective manufacturers. Small note: buying a smartphone today may not be easy, given the current shipping situation. We advise you to evaluate the purchase well and to inform you about the delivery times (often it takes from 7 to 20 days).

Realme 5 Pro

The current Realme proposal under 200 euros is called Realme 5 Pro and is a smartphone that has convinced critics and the public right away, thanks to the above-average performance, to the photographic sector that does not disappoint expectations, to the good constructive solidity and granite autonomy. The screen is instead average, but we are still on good levels. For more details on the data sheet, we recommend you take a look at the news dedicated to Realme 5 Pro.
In any case, we are not faced with a perfect solution, since according to many, the UI is to be reviewed (the long-awaited update should arrive soon) and the design makes the nose a little distorted to a certain type of user. The connectivity sector is rather complete: there is no lack of Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 5, 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones and USB Type-C port. However, the absence of NFC is noteworthy. Realme 5 Pro is currently sold for 189 euros on Amazon Italy through resellers (4 / 128GB). Keep in mind the fact that from April 6, 2020 sales of the successor Realme 6 will begin (which however will start from higher prices). We therefore advise you, if you are interested, to wait a few days to better evaluate the situation and any price drops.

Redmi Note 8T

One of the most recommended smartphones in general as regards the range under 200 euros is definitely Redmi Note 8T. We are talking about one of the devices that convinced Italians the mostsince its arrival in our country. Its main strengths are to be found in the good construction solidity, in the excellent screen, in the good camera, in the complete connectivity sector (NFC, headphone jack and USB Type-C are in place) and in the granite autonomy. For more details, we advise you to consult our review of the Redmi Note 8T.
The main flaws, on the other hand, are some software burrs, performance only in line with the price range and the differences not too marked with the previous generation. However, in general, Redmi Note 8T is an excellent smartphone, which can be purchased "with your eyes closed" by those who have always been comfortable with this range of devices. The smartphone is currently sold at a price of around 160 euros on Amazon Italy through resellers (4 / 64GB).

Special mention: Mi Fan Festival

Xiaomi has decided, despite the not exactly rosy period, to kick off the Mi Fan Festival, a series of discounts that will continue until April 9, 2020. The start of the most substantial promotions is set from midnight on April 7, however, the Chinese company has already launched some interesting promos, while supplies last, through its official website. In particular, the promotion that allows you to take home should be mentioned Redmi Note 8 Pro at a final price of 189.90 euros (6 / 64GB). We remind you that usually this smartphone is at a higher cost, even on platforms such as Amazon. If you want to go just above 200 euros, find Xiaomi Mi 9T, which does not need too many presentations, at a final price of 209.90 euros (6 / 64GB).
There is also Redmi 7A (2 / 32GB) with 4000 mAh battery at a discount of 69.90 euros. In addition, as always, Xiaomi has activated several extra discounts that can be obtained in various ways. In short, we recommend that you also keep an eye on the Mi Fan Festival, if you are interested in buying low-cost smartphones. Redmi 8A

If you are the type of user who uses the smartphone only to send a few messages, consult e-mail and little else, Redmi 8A could be for you. We are in fact talking about an entry-level device launched in the second half of 2019 that does not have too many pretensions in terms of performance, but works fairly well in the daily environment and has a 5000 mAh battery. It is the classic product that could be interesting for those who use the smartphone a little and prefer to have a good autonomy. Redmi 8A is currently being sold for 98 euros on Amazon Italy through resellers (2 / 32GB).
The smartphone is also interesting for the presence of the triple slot (Dual nanoSIM + microSD) and a complete connectivity compartment overall (there are headphone jacks, USB Type-C, 4G LTE, but the NFC is missing). Of course, you'll have to settle for sub-optimal performance and a screen with only HD + resolution, but you can't ask for more at such a reduced price.

Xiaomi Mi A3

Xiaomi Mi A3 is a smartphone that has divided in half critics and public because of its AMOLED panel with only HD + resolution (and not Full HD, as a certain type of user would have liked). However, the price drops suffered by the device, which led to it costing less than 200 euros online (4 / 64GB, at the time of writing is not available on Amazon, but usually the price is that), have made it much more interesting compared to the time of release. As for the main strengths of the device, they are to be found in the audio sector, in the complete software, in the good performance, in the granite autonomy and in thejoining the Google Android One program.

The smartphone is therefore "certified" to receive two years of updates to the major releases and three years of updates regarding the security patches (this from the moment of launch). For more details, we refer you to our review of Xiaomi Mi A3.
Speaking of the sore points, the HD + resolution of the display isn't actually a big deal. For the rest, one of the main flaws is the absence of NFC. Instead present the 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones and the USB Type-C port. Summing up, Xiaomi Mi A3 could definitely appeal to some users and therefore deserves to be in this ranking.

Market choice: Samsung Galaxy A40

Declaring the best-selling smartphone in this period is not easy, but we can, as usual, rely on the ranking of Amazon Bestseller devices. Well, the first position has not changed compared to last month: there is still Samsung Galaxy A40. For the uninitiated, it is a smartphone arrived in Italy in 2019 that finds its strengths in the excellent display, in the good camera, in the complete connectivity sector (triple slot, USB Type-C and NFC port) and in the software. However, we are not talking about a perfect device: autonomy is below average and constructive solidity is not at the top. Galaxy A40 is a good but not exceptional smartphone, which can however be interesting compared to a price of 183 euros on Amazon Italy through resellers (4 / 64GB).

Upcoming Arrivals: Wiko View 4, Realme C3 and Realme 6i

Without going around too much, 2020 is proving to be a tiring year also for the smartphone market. The manufacturers are grappling with various problems and we are already starting to see some postponements (such as that of the top of the range OPPO Find X2 Pro). However, companies are still trying to keep the interest of fans alive through the ads, although it will probably take several weeks or, in some cases, months to touch the devices with their hands. Here then that the announcements that have come in the last few weeks, concerning the under 200 euro range, are starting to get interesting, if viewed in the right light. Unveiled in February 2020, the Wiko View 4 range it is composed of two smartphones: the basic model and the Lite model. Their peculiar feature is the presence, respectively, of a 5000 mAh and 4000 mAh battery.

Unfortunately we have not yet had the opportunity to test them but the first people who have succeeded confirm that it is possible to reach two full days of autonomy (at least with the "standard" model). In short, at a price of 159.99 euros (basic model, 3 / 64GB) or 129.99 euros (Lite variant, 2 / 32GB), they could be good choices. Since they were announced shortly before everything started, you can already buy them online through the official website (be careful that some areas are not currently covered for shipping). For more details on this range of devices, we invite you to consult our news dedicated to Wiko View 4.

Realme has instead announced the arrival in Italy of its Realme C3 and Realme 6i smartphones. Again, the focus is on autonomy: both models have a 5000 mAh battery. Realme 6i focuses on the camera, since there are three rear sensors (the main one is 48MP and a wide-angle lens is not missing), and on the design, which was created in collaboration with the Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. Prices for Italy are set at 159.90 euros for Realme C3 (3 / 64GB) and 199 euros for Realme 6i (4 / 128GB). Both devices are not yet on sale and the company has limited itself to saying that "they will arrive soon". For more details, we advise you to consult our news dedicated to Realme C3 and Realme 6i.
To stay updated on the actual availability in Italy, we refer you instead to the official Realme website (remember that from April 6th sales of Realme 6 with a 90Hz screen and other interesting features start, but there prices start at € 229.90) .
