The RTX 3080 Ti Mobile will be the most powerful laptop GPU ever, with a TGP of 175W

Despite using increasingly efficient manufacturing processes, desktop GPUs consume more and more power by significantly increasing the number of cores generation by generation, and it appears that notebook GPUs will also begin to suffer this increase in consumption with the Launch of the RTX 3080 Ti Mobile, the first laptop GPU with 175W TGP.

Until now, the GPUs for laptops with the highest consumption were the RTX 2080 Mobile with TGP of 150W, which had dropped with the launch of the RTX 3080 Mobile that did not exceed 115W. However, this will change with the launch of the RTX 3080 Ti Mobile which will hit an impressive 175W, pushing laptop cooling to the limit with so little space for the heatsink.

Unfortunately it is not yet clear how many Cuda Cores this RTX 3080 Ti Mobile will have, although everything indicates that it will be based on the GA103 core and will have 7424 Cuda Cores. In addition, it is expected to have a 256-bit bus and 16GB of GDDR6 memory at 16Gbps to reach a bandwidth of 512GB / s, another factor that will also influence consumption.

It is expected that in addition to this RTX 3080 Ti Mobile, an RTX 3070 Ti Mobile with 8GB GDDR6 and 150W TGP will also be announced during Nvidia’s CES 2022 conference on January 4, where we will also see new desktop products such as the RTX 3090 Ti. and the RTX 3050, so there will be plenty of products to delight us during that event. We will keep you posted on all the news, so stay tuned to HD Tecnología.

What do you think about the 175W TGP of this RTX 3080 Ti Mobile? Do you think that it is justified or that it is already too much for a laptop?
