That is why the US suspended the Minuteman III tests indefinitely, so as not to add fuel to the fire, and rightly so, because Vladimir Putin is so unpredictable that even the test could be considered a reason for launching Russian nuclear missiles.

In short, the LGM-30G Minuteman III missiles date back to 1970. They weigh as much as 32,158 kilograms during take-off, measure 18.2 meters and have a diameter of 1.88 meters. They take to the air on their three-stage solid fuel drive to finally reach speeds of up to 24,000 km / h and hit targets up to 13,000 km away, serving them with even 475 kilotons W87 / Mk-21 MIRV warhead.

According to the latest findings, the US has 450 Minuteman IIIs in service and 100 in reserve, and the tests are related to their continuous modernization. During them, the Americans launch an unarmed missile from a base in California, which finally completes a 6,760-kilometer flight to hit a safe target in the Marshall Islands.

This was most recently in 2020 and was supposed to be there, but a Pentagon spokesman said the test would be on hold to signal to Russia that the US “has no intention of engaging in any activity that could be misunderstood.”
