This application will allow you to use your iPhone to measure your blood pressure

iPhone ciśnienie krwi

Scientists from Michigan State University have developed an application that allows you to measure blood pressure using an iPhone. This shows that specialized sensors for this type of task are not required at all.

The app uses Apple’s 3D Touch feature. It is mainly about strain gauges under the touch screen. They allow you to measure how hard the user presses his finger against the screen. The application specifies the size of the area for the index finger, which then appears as a box at the edge of the screen, next to the camera. Hold the smartphone at the level of your heart and place your finger on the display. Thanks to this, it is possible to measure the pulsation of blood, and the apparatus itself visually detects the volume of blood. Then, thanks to an appropriate algorithm, it is possible to determine the pressure at the user.

Laboratory tests have shown that the readings are as accurate as a traditional blood pressure monitor. The application is to be made available to users by the end of 2019.
