This is what its patched version looks like for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S

Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 en PlayStation 5 vs Xbox Series X vs Xbox Series S

Digital Foundry has made the pertinent comparison of graphic quality and performance of patch 1.5 that it has received Cyberpunk 2077where the most notable improvement is that the new generation consoles receive a completely improved version of the game that adds Performance Mode by running the game at 4K @ 60 FPSor a Quality Mode that runs it at 4K @ 30 FPS by adding RayTracing into the equation.

Obviously, the big exception is the Xbox Series Swhere it offers a single game mode with a resolution Dynamic 1440p @ 30 FPS. As indicated, the console moves between 2304 x 1296p and 2560 x 1440p, although DF indicates that CD Projekt RED has not offered a 60 FPS modealthough the study would be investigating if it is possible to add it.

As far as the more advanced models are concerned, both move to dynamic 4K resolution. The PS5 moves between the 1260p and 1728p to seek 60 FPS, while the SeriesX moves in the 1328p a 1782p, although the difference in both consoles is small. Running the game at 4K @ 30 FPS, small tearing issues are indicated at the top of the screen. The previous version of Cyberpunk 2077 ran from 972p a 1200p on the PS5 and from 1080p a 1296p in the Series X, so the noticeable difference in quality is compared to the original version.

“[…] The old PlayStation 5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 had population density issues. NPCs were scarce, which made the city seem empty. This has been fixed in the new 1.5 release (apart from the huge increase in resolution), but it also means that performance may be lower. On market, this is a substantial drop in the 40 FPS region, with occasional tearing, compared to the previous version’s 60 FPS. However, there is good news. Outside of densely populated areas, such as the market, performance is generally higher.

If we go to the Series X, the level of improvement is even higher. In reality, the Series X was performing worse than the PS5 with patch 1.23, perhaps due to the higher resolution and improved crowd density. As the video on this page demonstrates, patch 1.5 raises the game’s performance bar in all areas. Alley shootouts are still a problem, but overall the game runs very well.

Both Series X and PS5 impress, but which offers the most sustained 60fps experience? It’s worth noting that the two consoles are largely tied, but if we have to push the engine to find the difference, the PS5 is the console that comes out on top. For example, the demanding market race runs 5-10 FPS better on the Sony machine. The PS5 also runs smoother in the stress point of driving past Tom’s Diner, and in the alley shootout test that follows. However, this isn’t exactly representative of most of the game. For the most part, you’ll see a 60 FPS frame rate on both machines, and more importantly, Xbox Series X’s VRR support does a phenomenal job of masking the performance drops the console has.”
