UL Benchmarks removes multiple devices with MediaTek SOCs from its rankings due to company cheating

A week ago we reported that MediaTek falsified benchmark results on multiple phones, like the Redmi Note 8. Now, suffered the consequences.

As a test, the page Anandtech installed the public version of PCMark for Android on an Oppo Reno3 with a MediaTek Helio P95, to then install the private version of the same application. Thanks to this test it was discovered that the results were much higher in the public version than in the private one. This evidenced that the processor recognized the application to then operate at maximum speed, something banned by PCMark.

MediaTek defensively stated that “manufacturers themselves can disable that feature whenever they want, and even companies like Qualcomm do as well.”

This caused the company behind PCMark, UL BenchmarksI decided remove from your rankings fifty devices from different manufacturers with MediaTek SOCs. Here is the list of processors:

  • Helium A22
  • Helium P20
  • Helium P60
  • Helium P65
  • Helium P90
  • Helium P95
  • Helium G70
  • Helium G90

Among the devices removed included equipment such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, the Realme 6, and other models.

What do you think about this?
