Microsoft is currently testing some features or notifications in Windows 10 Insider. The previous build added an icon to the notification area that showed when the microphone was in use.
The latest one goes further and lets you see which app is using it. If there is more than one application, the number will be indicated. The company also plans to add an indicator to the taskbar to inform you about the update. This will help you avoid accidental computer reboots. Microsoft will change a few things, including the search engine and Cortana. So there are many changes ahead that we should only benefit from.
The option of previewing what is using the microphone will definitely improve our privacy. If anyone is concerned about eavesdropping, they will have a simple answer as to whether anyone is currently listening.
