Z1 robotic arm for Chinese robots from Unitree

Four-legged robots are fun, but even better are those dog-like robots that have access to a robotic arm that greatly enhances their capabilities. The Chinese company Unitree apparently also knows about it, which has been convinced by its existing customers, and this is how the Z1 robotic arm was created.

Unitree showed its Z1 robotic arm in action

Unitree has prepared the Z1 robotic arm (currently in prototype form, but with a plan to go on sale soon) specifically for its Aliengo and B1 robots. They are mounted directly on them, but it is certain that other similar robots are also compatible with this arm.

This arm works with interchangeable tools, or rather hands, including a two-finger, three-finger version and a special suction cup. Such a set allows the Z1 arms to perform activities such as lifting objects, opening doors, or even screwing and unscrewing screws.

Unitree also took care of the appropriate variants and so the Z1 is available in the Air (4.1 kg) and Pro (4.3 kg) versions with a force of 2 and 5 kg respectively. They share six degrees of freedom, collision detection, compatibility with the Ubuntu operating system, and even the ability to learn tasks by being physically guided by the operator beforehand.
