OKCoin crypto exchange has pledged to donate up to 1000 bitcoins to developers of bitcoin (BTC), bitcoin cash (BCH) and bitcoin Satoshi vision (BSV).
The initiative called “Building Bitcoin Together” will allow crypto enthusiasts to come to the OKCoin platform and “vote on what project they would like to receive a donation”.
Currently, 1000 Bitcoins are worth about $ 10.5 million.
11 projects, 1000 Bitcoins
According to a report released by ForkLog, the company selected 11 developers and eligible projects to receive funding.
Bitcoin Core developers listed for donations include Luke Dashjr, Ben Woosley, fanquake (Michael Ford), Sjors Provoost, Jonas Schnelli and Jimmy Song.
For Bitcoin Cash, the fund is divided between the three major node implementations: Bitcoin ABC, BCHD and Bitcoin Unlimited.
For Bitcoin SV, the community will have two options: the Bitcoin Association and CambrianSV, two companies that are not associated with the controversial Craig Wright.
OKCoin users can access a dedicated page where they can vote for their favorite project. For each recorded vote, the exchange will donate 0.02 BTC (or equivalent in BCH or BSV) on behalf of the voter for the selected project.
The campaign will run until September 27, and the amount collected for each project will be divided and evenly distributed between developers and projects.
OKCoin representatives said the selected projects were “verified” and met the “specifications” of the initiative, without giving specific details.
“The intention is not to stimulate competition between projects. Instead, the initiative aims to highlight the common history, the different approaches and positions taken and to get the support of the community towards those focused on building and advancing projects ”,
said OKCoin.
