30% of CPUs sold during November were Intel, Alder Lake begins to take market away from AMD

The Alder Lake CPUs put Intel back in the lead in terms of price-performance, and this is starting to show up in sales. As seen in the German Mindfactory store, Intel sales grew significantly after the launch of Alder Lake, going from 18% of sales to 30%.

Of this 30%, Alder Lake accounts for the majority of these sales at 11%, followed by Rocket Lake at 10%, Comet Lake at 8%, and 1% for older CPUs. On the side of AMD, which has 70% of sales, 48% is from Vermeer (Ryzen 5000 CPUs), 11% from Cezzane (Ryzen 5000 APUs), 10% from Matisse (Ryzen 3000 CPUs), and 1% of other lines like Threadripper.

Regarding the individual sales of each model, of the top 10 best-selling CPUs, the first 6 are from AMD, and in total 7 of these 10 are red. The best seller was the Ryzen 7 5800X with 4820 sales, followed by the Ryzen 5 5600X with 3570 sales. In third place there is a steep drop, with 1,520 sales for the Ryzen 9 5900X, showing the wide difference in sales of these first two models compared to the rest of the list.

On the Intel side, the best-selling CPU was the i7-12700K with 880 sales, followed by the i5-12600K with 780 sales. It is a significantly lower number than that of AMD CPUs, although it is an increase compared to the numbers that the company had been handling in the previous generation.

It will be interesting to see how the AMD and Intel market are distributed when AMD launches its new Zen3D-based Ryzen and Intel launches its Alder Lake “No-K” such as the i5-12400 and i3-12100 plus the H670, B660 and H610 motherboards. and the two brands have their complete line of the latest generation.
