42% of employees in the blockchain industry work on cryptocurrency exchanges

The Block publication conducted a study in which 158 blockchain companies took part, and it turned out that 42% of workers in this industry are employed on cryptocurrency exchanges.

Among 158 blockchain companies, there are only 30 cryptocurrency exchanges. At the same time, 7,700 people work for them, which makes up 42% of the total number of workers in the industry. In comparison, only 11% of workers are involved in the production of mining equipment, and another 10% work in cryptocurrency projects such as Ripple, Tron, Block.One and IHOK.

The largest employers in the cryptocurrency industry are Bitmain, Huobi, Coinbase, and OKEx, with 1,500, 1,300, 1,000, and 950 employees, respectively. Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in terms of trade, has a staff of 650 people, and 450 employees work for Ripple.

Note that the number of vacancies in the field of blockchain is constantly growing. In the first five months of 2019, almost as many vacancies were posted as in the whole of 2018. The largest employer for blockchain specialists was IBM – over 300 job openings were opened for professionals in this field.

In addition, a recent study by the Blockchain Research Institute (BRI) showed that in Canada, blockchain specialists are among the most paid employees.
