OSIRIS, a 5G network for marines

However, it will not be a full-fledged network, but only a prototype network, although it will cover the entire test infrastructure, on which work has already started and will last until September 2024. This will be created by the collaboration of engineers from Lockheed Martin with DISH Wireless, Intel Corporation, Radisys Corporation and Rampart Communications. Together, they will create a test 5G network infrastructure in San Diego, or more precisely, the MCB Camp Pendleton training base.

OSIRIS will serve as a critical test point for Lockheed Martin’s 5G.MIL capabilities. We integrate the technical capabilities of 5G waves, software and hardware with higher throughput and low latency in our defense products to increase their efficiency for our troops. We want to provide troops operating in environments with connectivity problems, reliable access to data so that they can carry out their missions anywhere in the world

Said Deon Viergutz, vice president of Lockheed Martin Spectrum Convergence.

OSIRIS, is the code name for Open Systems Interoperable and Reconfigurable Infrastructure Solutionand the effort that Lockheed-led companies will undertake will be continuously tested under the supervision of the Department of Defense Undersecretary of Research and Engineering. Ultimately, the 5G network will be tested during expeditionary operations.
