A Chinese ferry terminal like an alien facility. This is the Cuntan International Cruise Center project

MAD Architects praised its Cuntan International Cruise Center project, which it developed on behalf of the conversion of an existing cargo terminal in China into a new ferry terminal. However, an unusual project was chosen, because the proposed Chinese ferry terminal resembles an alien base.

The new Chinese ferry terminal will resemble a work taken straight from sci-fi movies. Establishment in Chongqing city in central China

Drawing inspiration from the existing gantry cranes in the area, the company has designed an extremely futuristic complex that will be raised above the ground. She carried out her work in cooperation with China Academy of Building Research and it is one of those works that is actually to be created, becoming a unique point of the journey on the Yangtze River.

These gantries became living aliens that gave a sense of surrealism. The new scheme is therefore not only about reflecting the industrial colors of the past, but also about respecting this original surrealism. We designed the elevated buildings as if they were a futuristic, freely strolling city, seemingly coming here from somewhere else.

The project provides for six interconnected buildings that will be raised to an indefinite level above the ground and will measure a total of 430 meters in length. They will even catch the eye with their orange and curved roofs, which give them a surreal character.

Inside China Academy of Building Research there will be commercial and restaurant areas, “city halls”, a whole lot of vegetation and skylights, as well as a park and an underground Cruise Center Hub connecting it with elevated buildings. Work on this project will start in November 2022 and will last until 2027.
