A report indicates that the real price of the RX 6500 XT in France will start at 299 euros

Due to the current situation of shortage of chips plus the high demand generated by mining, during the last year and a half the graphics cards are being sold well above the price suggested by the manufacturers, and although AMD says otherwise, the new Radeon RX 6500 XT will also be impossible to get for the $199.99 suggested by the red company.

A new report from Cowcotland indicates that in France the price of this graphic will start at 299 euros, which is much higher than the 199 that it should cost (Generally, companies do a one-to-one conversion with the dollar when putting suggested prices in Europe). In addition, this price will be for the most basic editions, so we would not be surprised to see models that are sold for 350 euros or even more.

Considering that the RX 6500 XT only has 4GB of VRAM and a limited 64-bit bus, we don’t know how much it will be worth spending so much money on a graphics card that isn’t future-ready. AMD itself said in June 2020 that 4GB of VRAM was not enough to play games, so spending 350 euros on a card that its own manufacturer said a year and a half ago is useless doesn’t make much sense. AMD itself gave indications that in the future there could be an 8GB version, although it will be even more expensive, so we will have to see how good a price-performance they offer, having the RTX 3050 for only $50 more.

The Radeon RX 6500 XT will hit the market this January 19, so there we will see how good price-performance it offers, and what its real price will be in the market to be able to evaluate how convenient it is. We’ll be keeping you up to date, so stay tuned for HD Technology.

What do you think about the price of the RX 6500 XT? Would they spend $350 on a graphics card with 4GB of VRAM that isn’t ready for future gaming?
