account error when logging in
Minecraft, when played online, requires users to log into their account. Users are required to sign in with their Microsoft account, and once they are signed in, they will generally remain registered. If you change your Microsoft account password or make other security-related changes to your account, you will be required to sign. -of everything, including Minecraft.
Logging into Minecraft is easy; you click the sign-in option, enter your Microsoft account email and password, authenticate with whatever 2-factor authentication app you’ve set up, and you’re done.
If you are trying to log into Minecraft and you get an error message with the account message when you do, try the solutions below.
Please check if you are entering the correct email and password. Visit your Microsoft account page in a browser and sign in. If you are unable to log in, you are probably entering the wrong credentials. Try to recover the account to find the correct email or try to recover the password.
Once you have the correct email and password, use it to log into Minecraft.
Try restarting Minecraft and your system. It can troubleshoot login issues and is an easy solution to try. Try exiting the app first and opening it again. If that doesn’t work, restart the system and then open Minecraft.
If you are using the Java edition of Minecraft, be sure to use the official launcher. It may be tempting to use a third-party launcher, but it could be the reason why you can’t log in. Use the official launcher and log into Minecraft. Once you’ve logged in, try using the third-party launcher afterward.
If you are able to log into your Microsoft account outside of Minecraft, but you get an error in Minecraft, it may be a network error.
Update Minecraft. The Java version does not update automatically and the Bedrock / Windows 10 version may not have updated automatically despite being able to do so. Please update the app and then try to log in.
Minecraft rarely requires a proxy or VPN unless you are using it where it will be blocked, for example at school or work. If you are gaming at home and have a VPN or proxy enabled, disable it and then try to log in. Once you are logged in, you can always enable the proxy / VPN again and then continue playing.
Minecraft login problems tend to be sporadic. They can appear randomly and disappear on their own. If you still can’t log in, try waiting a few hours before trying again.
