Alder Lake Pre-Sale Confirmed to Start Oct. 27, Deliveries Nov. 4

After several weeks of rumors, WCCFTech published a screenshot of an official Intel document that confirms what was expected: The 12th. Generation Intel Core “Alder Lake” processors will be announced this October 27th. Pre-sales will begin that same day, and will be delivered from November 4, just as MSI had anticipated a few weeks ago.

This leaked capture further confirms that the first batch of products will only include the Z690 chipset and K / KF processors, that is, the i9-12900K, i7-12700K, i5-12600K, and their KF variants with integrated GPU disabled. The rest of the processors and chipsets will arrive only in February, so we will have to wait a little longer to see them on the market.

What do we know about this new platform?

Alder Lake will be Intel’s first hybrid architecture, combining high-performance “Golden Cove” cores with high-efficiency “Gracemont” cores in a style similar to ARM’s BIG.little. This will allow you to obtain maximum performance in high loads and low consumption in light loads, which is what you always look for in a processor.

The top-of-the-line processor of this 12th. Generation will be the Core i9-12900K, which will feature 8 high-performance cores plus 8 high-efficiency cores for a total of 16 cores and 24 threads. Apparently, it will have an incredible single-core performance, and in multi-core it will equal the Ryzen 9 5950X that has 16 cores and 32 Zen 3 threads, having a great performance in all kinds of tasks.

Alder Lake will also mark the debut of DDR5, featuring a memory controller that supports both DDR5-4800 and DDR4-3200, and even higher frequencies with overclocking. In this way, some motherboards will have DDR5 memory slots while others will have DDR4 memory slots for those who want to keep their current memory kits instead of upgrading to the new standard.

Manufacturers’ strategies for dividing which models will use DDR4 and DDR5 vary. Gigabyte will have variants of the same models with DDR4 or DDR5 where only the type of memory used will change, while Asus will divide it by lines, and there will be very few models that have variants with both types.

The last big novelty that Alder Lake will bring is the support for PCI-E 5.0, with 16 lines of this interface. In addition, the CPU will provide 4 additional PCI-E 4.0 lanes and the chipsets will be able to provide up to 12 additional PCI-E 4.0 lanes and 16 additional PCI-E 3.0 lanes, so there will be multiple expansion opportunities thanks to this I / O.

Knowing all these details, just wait until next week, when Intel announces Alder Lake during its Intel Innovation event. Stay tuned to HD Tecnología to be aware of all the news.

Are you eager to see the launch of Alder Lake? Are you interested in upgrading to this new platform?
