AMD announces details of Radeon RX 460 and RX 470

Earlier this year, AMD launched its Radeon RX 480, the top model in the graphics card series based on the company’s new Polaris architecture. It is already known that additional models are planned, and now the official performance of two of them has been presented during an AMD presentation of the Polaris architecture in Asia.

These are the Radeon RX 460 and Radeon RX 470, two cards in the cheaper price segment. The Radeon RX 470 is based on the Polaris 10 just like the RX 480 and uses the same 256-bit memory bus. In the reference version, the card is equipped with 4 GB of GDDR 5 memory, while third-party manufactured cards are delivered with up to 8 GB.

According to the information, the card should be able to run games like The Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Fallout 4 and GTA V on high graphics settings with an image update above 70 FPS.

Radeon RX 460 is the first card AMD talks about based on Polaris 11. The card comes with a 128-bit memory bus and 2 GB of GDDR5 memory. It profiles itself against e-sports and games in the MOBA genre, also here in the resolution 1920 x 1080. The card performs twice as well, for example, compared to the R7 260x in the recently launched game title Overwatch.

Neither price nor launch date has yet been announced for the two cards, but this is expected to happen sometime in August.
