When AMD first showed a graphics card with dual graphics chips in Fiji in the summer of 2015, the company announced that the launch would take place in late autumn of the same year. This did not happen, according to official statements to wait for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, both of which are on the doorstep for launch.
During AMD’s “Capsaicin” event during GDC 2016, the graphics card will be announced, which has received a changed focus. Instead of targeting consumers, the target audience is content creators and developers for virtual reality (VR), something that also explains the name Radeon Pro Duo instead of Radeon R9 Gemini.

AMD does not share any specifications, but only conveys that the card’s computing power is 16 TFLOPS. This means that it is most likely two full-scale Fiji graphics circuits with 4,096 stream processors in 1,000 MHz, a configuration that provides just over 16 TFLOPS.
Otherwise, the graphics card does not come with any major surprises. Fiji graphics circuits suggest that memory technology is first-generation HBM, providing 4 GB per circuit. A change that has taken place since the first announcement this summer is that the power supply is managed by no less than three 8-pin PCI Express instead of two.
AMD plans to launch the Radeon Pro Duo earlier in the second quarter of the year with a recommended price of $ 1,499. This corresponds to as much as SEK 15,600 including VAT and makes the graphics card a number of thousands more expensive than buying two stand-alone Radeon R9 Fury X.
