AMD Creates COVID-19 Fund to Fund Research

AMD is announcing the creation of the COVID-19 high-performance computing fund, which will fund researchers with additional computing resources to accelerate medical research. The fund will include an initial gift valued at $ 15 million on high-performance systems powered by AMD EPYC ™ processors and AMD Radeon ™ Instinct graphics to key research institutions. To facilitate implementation and accelerate the practical impact of these donations, we are working with our system manufacturing partners to deliver ready-to-install HPC nodes.

The above story complements last week’s announcement of AMD’s addition to the COVID-19 HPC Consortium with technology and technical resource contributions, including AMD Instinct MI50 accelerators and support resources for the Corona system at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. .
