AMD does not oppose the Geforce GTX Titan – instead aims for the 700 series

Earlier this year, the Geforce GTX Titan was released with the mythical Nvidia GK110. The graphics processor contains no less than seven billion transistors and is the largest commercial circuit of all time. This was followed by new models in the 700 series, including the Geforce GTX 780 with a scaled-down variant of the GK110.

The competitor AMD does not, however, present an immediate setback, but will delay the autumn with new graphics cards in the Radeon series. The red team plans to release the first members of the Volcanic Islands family in connection with the launch of Battlefield 4, which takes place at the end of October.

However, there will be no direct challenger to the Geforce GTX Titan, at least not in the initial stages. According to planning documents that SweClockers has read, AMD is instead keeping an eye on the 700 series, where the flagship Radeon “Hawaii” goes up against the Geforce GTX 780.

Other sources state that the upcoming Radeon series is a mix of old and new circuits, where Tahiti, among others, will live on in 2014. It is also said that the upcoming Curacao is more or less identical to today’s Pitcairn, which is used for the Radeon HD 7800- series.

In any case, graphics card manufacturers should already have access to Hawaii, which indicates the new graphics circuit is first out in the next generation Radeon.
