AMD is peeling off a third of the price tag for the Radeon R9 295X2

Each new generation of graphics cards is crowned by at least one worsting model with dual graphics processors. In AMD’s case, the Radeon R9 295X2 is what currently tops the performance tables, but the price tag of SEK 12,000 is a deterrent for the vast majority. Now, however, a major price reduction is in sight.

AMD lowers target price for Radeon R9 295X2 from $ 1,499 to $ 999. In other words, this is a significant price reduction where the graphics card is likely to fall below the ten thousand kronor mark at Swedish retailers. However, the recent high dollar exchange rate affects Swedish pricing, which is why the effect will probably not be quite as great as -33% from the original price.

The water-cooled worsting model Radeon R9 295X2 contains two Hawaii XTs with a total of 5,632 stream processors. This includes two memory buses with 512-bit bus width each and a total of 8 GB of GDDR5 memory (4 GB efficient). The lavish cooling solution is explained by the fact that the TDP value amounts to as much as 500 W.
