AMD launches the dig at Intel: Radeon RX 6500M makes Arc A370M eat the dust

AMD he decided to use Twitter to throw a first dart at Intel and his GPU mobile dedicate presented in the past few hours. A simple graph, in which he compares the numbers released by Intel for the model Arc A370M with the results of his RX 6500M highlighting it excessive power of the latter, albeit based on a smaller chip. Five AAA games are taken in the chart, all tested in 1080p with medium details (except Strange Brigade).

Both GPUs are manufactured in 6 nanometers from TSMC and, as seen in the past few hours, the A370M model relies on a renamed chip ACM-G11 8 Xe-Core (1024 FP32 cores). This entry level GPU enters a “collision course”, on the AMD front, with the proposals based on Navi 24, in particular the Radeon RX 6500M with 16 Compute Units, for a total of 1024 stream processors.

Also produced at 6 nanometers by TSMC, AMD’s solution similar to that of Intel also for other details, such as the 64-bit memory bus, the 4 GB of GDDR6 memory matched and the established TDP range, equal to 35-50W. The graph results show the increased performance of AMD’s entry-level GPU, although it must be said that we don’t know how much edge Intel has on the driver front to improve the performance of Arc A370M.

Certainly AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture is more mature than Intel’s Xe HPG and can count on more complete and optimized drivers. Intel has therefore a long way to improve in its path, provided the results shown are not already the best achievable from the chip – but we sincerely hope not.
