AMD Radeon “Fiji” is positioned against Geforce GTX 980 Ti

It is hardly a secret that Nvidia decided to bring forward the launch of the Geforce GTX 980 Ti to make life miserable for AMD and put the brakes on the next generation Radeon. The idea is to put the competitor at a disadvantage from the outset and force financially vulnerable AMD to once again cut margins.

Now it looks like this strategy may be on the way to success. Sources for SweClockers state that AMD will reposition the new flagship Radeon “Fiji” to meet the Geforce GTX 980 Ti in the price range “around 600 dollars”. It is far from what was originally planned.

On the contrary, according to partner manufacturers, the Radeon “Fiji” would be marketed as a more reasonable alternative to the Geforce GTX Titan X. The new graphics card would offer similar performance at a lower price tag, but not as low as $ 649, that is, what the Geforce GTX 980 Ti currently costs .

Additional salt in the wounds comes from AMD being tampas with low yield, that is, the proportion of usable circuits out of production, and may be forced to postpone the introduction of scaled-down versions of the Fiji graphics processor. Although the flagship steals the most attention, it is usually slimmed-down sibling models that account for the vast majority of sales.

The launch of the new Radeon 300 series will take place in connection with the E3 gaming fair in mid-June.
