AMD Radeon Navi found in the macOS update

In the case of AMD, we can be sure that their completely new Navi architecture, which will power not only consoles, but also dedicated cards for the desktop and mobile market, will debut this year. In the face of such strong competition, there is simply no room for delays, which seems to confirm the presence of several AMD Radeon Navi GPUs in the MacOS Mohave update.

The find was published by a certain Gigamaxx on the tonymacx86 forum. This comes down to the presence of the file “AMDRadeon6000HWServiceskext” which contained the names Navi 16, Navi 12, Navi 10 and Navi 9, probably referring to the name of the new GPU variants. However, there were no code names from which we could extract much more information. Admittedly, we wouldn’t be sure if they were true due to the lack of any information about the naming scheme and the actual configuration of the Navi cores, but it’s better than nothing.

Finally, we can say that Navi cards are closer to the premiere than we think and the premiere in the company of Ryzen 3000 processors may turn out to be true. Especially in the face of the assurances of one of the high-ranking employees at AMD, who assured us that the company was preparing to launch another 7nm consumer graphics cards later this year. The Radeon VII itself was supposed to be only the last “run” of the Polaris, which was to buy them a bit more time on the HEDT market.
