AMD “Raven Ridge” for laptops in the first test

AMD’s Ryzen processors are not only intended for use in desktops. The next step is a series of APU variants with integrated graphics according to the Vega architecture, where laptops are first out.

Now Videocardz reports that a model for laptops has already been tested. That it is precisely an APU from the Ryzen series, also called Raven Ridge, is probable – no other product in AMD’s range is a combination of the architectures Zen and Vega.

The model in question goes by the name AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, and has been tested in the game Ashes of the Singularity. According to the specifications that are visible, these are four physical cores that are accompanied by Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), resulting in eight simultaneous threads for the processor part. The graphics part is called as AMD 1500 Graphics and belongs to the Vega family.

When it comes to performance, the graphics part delivers about 5 FPS through the tests, which can almost be compared to about 6 FPS for the Iris Plus 640 from the competitor Intel. For the processor part, it is wiser to find a reasonable comparison. The Intel model Core i5-7200U lands a bit over according to the database, which can give a good indication.
