AMD releases Catalyst 13.12 WHQL with Frame Pacing support

The graphics card year 2013 has largely been characterized by uneven rendering times with AMD-based graphics cards in Crossfire. The controversy was supplemented towards the end of the year by varying performance between different copies of the company’s latest flagship Radeon R9 290X and R9 290 in Quiet Mode.

This and much more is addressed by AMD with the Catalyst 13.12 WHQL driver. The fresh software contains many functions that were previously transferred to beta versions, but which are now released in formal form. Among the news is official support for Radeon R9 290X and R9 290 and adjusted Powertune, which reduces performance variations between different models.

In addition, there is official support for smoother rendering times for Crossfire via Frame Pacing, which can be activated in the AMD Catalyst Control Center. Today, however, the finesse is limited to working with a screen of up to 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, but wider support for, among other things, more screens and 4K resolution is promised in the future.
