AMD unveils Radeon RX 490

The first graphics card member based on AMD’s new Polaris architecture is called the Radeon RX 480 and is released on the market today. However, attentive individuals have noticed that AMD themselves have revealed an upcoming performance card that gets the logical name Radeon RX 490.

The revelation takes place on a campaign page where Radeon customers can register their product to download free games. By clicking on the “Check eligibility” option, the graphics cards included in the campaign are listed, and in the list you will find this particular Radeon RX 490.

The information does not include more than the name, so we still do not know exactly what the RX 490 will offer or what specifications it will entail. The Radeon RX 490 is expected to build on the Vega architecture with HBM2 memory. This circuit was first expected to be delayed until early 2017, but rumor has it that the launch was brought forward to compete with Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 1080 and 1070 cards.

In the campaign that reveals the RX 490, it can be read that the offer applies to those who bought a graphics card between 15 February and 31 December 2016, which would therefore be in line with the rumor of an earlier launch of the first graphics card based on the Vega architecture.
