Another strike from the Lapsus $ hacker group. A number of new companies were hit

After the hacker group Lapsus $ boasted about a successful attack on NVIDIA and Samsung, we learned about their next cybercrimes. This time, they concern the theft of source codes related to Vodafone, MercadoLibre and MercadoPago services, which are already in the hands of hackers.

Vodafone, Impresa, MercadoLibre and MercadoPago are the newest victims of the Lapsus $ hacker group

These attacks differ from the older ones as the hackers claiming to be Lapsus $ started playing with the world this time. They created a survey on Telegram a few days ago in which they directly ask people which data it should show the world. So far, this applies to the source code of the four companies mentioned, among which this “win” will in fact be a loser when its source codes appear on the network on March 13.

According to a survey of over 13,000 users, Lapsus $ could reveal approximately 5,000 Vodafone source codes from GitHub weighing 200+ GB, Impresa databases and source codes, and ~ 24,000 MercadoLibre and MercadoPago repositories. So far, Vodafone is the winner, and is currently working on checking how hackers managed to steal the data. For the record, it is an international mobile operator.
