Asus confirms small Radeon RX 6000 availability at launch

This autumn’s graphics card launches have resulted in great frustration for prospective Nvidia customers, especially regarding cards of the Geforce RTX 3080 type. The supply is still scarce, and Nvidia itself has announced that it will remain so until the beginning of next year.

The competitor AMD was not late to pick up points and went out in connection with Nvidia’s launch debacle and claimed that the supply of cards in the Radeon RX 6000 series will be good – something now the partner manufacturer Asus partly seems to deny on SweClocker’s forum.

It will be quite limited: more RX6800, fewer 6800XT … as with basically all graphics cards now, we expect that everything will be gone in a few minutes so you need to hang on the lock
Then it is 1-2 weeks later until we start delivering our Partners cards, too early to say what the supply looks like there, but the demand will probably continue to be great.
– David Hammer, Product Manager Lead, Asus Nordic

Product manager David Hammer, contrary to AMD’s Frank Azor, paints a picture that is similar to the scenario at the launch of the Geforce RTX 3080, and believes that most of it will be sold out very shortly before the start of sales. For understandable reasons, Hammer does not mention figures on exactly how many cards will be available in Swedish trade.

The fact that the upcoming Radeon cards sell out quickly does not necessarily have to be due to an asset that is counted in dozens of copies. AMD has put itself in a position where the company has unexpectedly attractive products, while the market with Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 3080 launch proved more than willing to shell out SEK 8,000 in the pursuit of high-performance graphics – especially if it turns out to be available in store.

Exactly what it looks like, we will be notified on November 18, when the AMD Radeon RX 6800 and 6800 XT will go on sale. The top model Radeon RX 6900 XT and the Geforce RTX 3090 competitor will instead be launched on 8 December.

Are you one of those who ordered a Geforce RTX 3080 without success and can imagine a Radeon RX 6800 instead? Discuss in the forum!
