Asus ROG Mars II costs SEK 13,999

At the computer fair Computex, component manufacturer Asus showed off a new graphics card from high school. Asus ROG Mars II is part of the enthusiast-oriented Republic of Gamers series and, just like the Geforce GTX 590, is based on dual Nvidia GF110 with a total of 3 GB of GDDR5 memory via two 384-bit memory buses.

The home electronics chain Webhallen preceded the official launch and put the new graphics card in the range during the day, complete with pictures, specifications and not least the price tag. A few hours later, the mistake was discovered, but by then one of SweClocker’s loyal readers had already saved the screenshots.

Quite rightly, this is a lavish graphics card that takes over where the Geforce GTX 590 is no longer powerful. Unlike Nvidia, Asus manages to scare the clock frequencies to the same level as the GTX 580, ie 782 MHz GPU, 1,564 MHz shader and 4,008 MHz GDDR5. It can be compared to 607, 1,215 and 3,414 MHz respectively for the reference design of the GTX 590.

The one who is hungry on what is probably the world’s fastest graphics card for gamers may, however, be prepared to lighten the leather, or what about a (preliminary) price tag of SEK 13,999 including VAT – more than double that of the Geforce GTX 590.
