The Australian Navy found its new improved Cape Patrol boat last Friday. This was reported directly by the Australian government, noting that this novelty would strengthen Australia’s maritime potential, while ensuring greater reliability and effectiveness of the RAN patrol forces in maintaining the security of the country’s borders.
A contract of approximately $ 343 million to supply six patrol boats of this type is now on track for Austal Ships to deliver five more on time. They will significantly improve the capabilities of the Royal Australian Navy in the field of coast patrolling, which over time will strengthen newer and larger Arafura ships.

The Cape type itself dates back to 2011 when it was commissioned, and now has 18 in active service. In 2020, i.e. the entire 7 years after the first boat was put into service, an agreement was announced to create six more, improved compared to its predecessors, versions for the Australian Navy.
