BioWare History Book Mentioned the Location of the Next Dragon Age

Formally, the next Dragon Age was announced at the end of 2018. Since then, there has been complete silence for two years, and only at the past The Game Awards 2020, developers from BioWare bothered to publish a fresh trailer for the project. It still doesn’t have a subtitle, which suggests that the game is still in its early stages of production. Also, there is not the slightest details about the setting, characters, plot, not to mention the game mechanics.

But, perhaps, we now know a couple of interesting information. Eurogamer journalist Tom Phillips bought BioWare: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development, and apparently got so carried away that read up to 324 pages (out of 328 available), which mentions the next installment in the Dragon Age series.

It follows from the text that the project inside BioWare lives under the code name Morrison, is a continuation of Dragon Age Inquisition in general and the Trespasser add-on in particular, and its events will unfold in the Tevinter empire in the north of the continent of Thedas.

Despite the fact that the developers have yet to reveal all the details of the new Dragon Age, the above setting looks quite logical. Firstly, in the Dragon Age universe there are not so many noteworthy states of Thedas, in which the player has not yet had time to visit other parts of the series. Secondly, the empire of magicians Tevinter has been mentioned many times throughout the series as one of the greatest states in the history of Thedas. It’s hard to name a better candidate for the setting for the next project in the franchise.

However, it should be noted that some of the information in the book is already outdated. For example, Mark Darrah, who is called the executive producer of the project in the book, no longer works at BioWare. The veteran left the band in early December last year, along with the head of the studio, Casey Hudson.
