Former Nasdaq Stock Director Bob Greifeld believes Bitcoin needs to get rid of the “lottery element” in order to reach its full potential.
Greifeld noted that regardless of the speculative component of the first cryptocurrency, it is the “lottery element” that hinders the promotion of bitcoin. However, he acknowledged that digital currencies can lower costs and increase the speed of many processes.
“If I could buy and sell Bitcoin, and not worry about its price, it would be great. Therefore, when I think about digital currencies, the concept of stablecoins is closer to me, ”said the former Nasdaq CEO in The Scoop podcast.
Greifeld believes in the value of stable cryptocurrencies tied to state currencies. According to him, people in the USA do not realize the importance of transactions in different currencies, because the country uses one currency, but for a large part of the world this is not so.
“For a large part of the world, we are dealing with various currencies and some problems arise from this. However, if we have a digital currency, which will be more and more global, then I am sure that some of these problems will be solved, ”Greifeld emphasized.
Recall that recently the director of legal affairs of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Brian Brooks (Brian Brooks) said that the US government should not prevent private companies from developing a digital dollar.
