BitTorrent Launches BTFS Decentralized File Transfer Protocol Core Network

BitTorrent has announced the launch of its core network of the BTFS (BitTorrent File System) decentralized file sharing protocol. As part of the update, new features were added and 3,000 hosts were launched.

“Since the beginning of October, we integrated BTFS into the world’s largest peer-to-peer network BitTorrent, so we can state the launch of the main network of the project, a new milestone for BTFS and a new step in the development of the BitTorrent ecosystem,” the developers noted in an official announcement.

Developers are going to turn their project into the world’s largest decentralized and scalable file storage system. They emphasize the low cost of data storage and the possibility of earning for users who provide their resources for file sharing.

Already in the 3rd quarter of 2019, developers of decentralized applications on the Tron blockchain will be able to access the BTFS repository. At the end of 2019, it is planned to integrate the BTT token into the BTFS network and create a market for file storage and exchange. Next year, developers will complete the integration of the functionality of the BTFS node into BitTorrent clients, so that any of the 100 million service users will be able to launch their own BTFS network node.
