Custodian startup Casa introduced the second version of the Node device – a hardware complete node of the Bitcoin network. The device has become much more powerful, but at the same time retained its compact size.
According to the official website of Casa, the device is based on the new Raspberry Pi 4 microcomputer with a faster processor and is equipped with 4 GB of RAM, as well as a 1 TB SSD drive. For comparison, in the first version of the Bitcoin hardware node there was only 1 GB of RAM.
Together with Node 2, Casa introduced a new version of the software for launching the Bitcoin network node – Node OS. In addition to the new design and dark theme, the update provides users with support for BTCPayServer, a popular open-source payment processing service.
A limited number of devices will be sent to customers in October and November of this year, and the cost of new items will be $ 399. At the same time, if the user has the previous generation Bitcoin hardware node, then Casa Node 2 will cost him only $ 300.
According to Casa CEO Jeremy Welch, since the launch of the original Bitcoin site, the company has sold more than 2,000 devices in 60 countries. Welch called it “just the beginning”, while noting that Casa has no plans to release its own cryptocurrency hardware wallet.
This summer, Casa launched a mobile application that simplifies the management of the Lightning node and allows you to earn BTC as part of your own reward program. Later, the Node Heartbeats solution was launched, tracking the availability of Bitcoin network nodes.
