BEIJING, 17 Oct – PRIME. China intends to actively develop clean energy in order to bring the share of non-fossil energy sources to 25% of its total consumption by 2030, Ren Jingdong, vice head of China’s state energy administration, said at a press conference on Monday.
“It is necessary to focus on long-term development needs, build an integrated clean energy supply system, including wind power, solar power, hydropower and nuclear power, vigorously promote the construction of large hydropower and nuclear power projects,” Ren Jingdong said at a press conference held as part of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China.
He said China will promote the construction of large-scale solar and wind energy projects in desert regions, in particular the Gobi Desert, as well as develop other renewable energy sources such as bioenergy and geothermal energy, in order to “ensure that the share of consumption of non-fossil energy sources reaches approximately 20% by 2025 and up to 25% by 2030”.
