Through this article, I will show you how to install TWRP recovery on any Android smartphone. By following this guide you can install TWRP recovery on your phone without PC and without root. As you know for root an Android device, the first requirement is the unlocked bootloader and then for the second step, you will need TWRP Recovery installed on your phone. The stock recovery that we find pre-installed on our smartphone has very limited functionality. Cannot root or install files using stock recovery. Now, if you want to install a custom ROM or install any ZIP file, you need to have TWRP recovery installed on your phone. The reason we use TWRP compared to other custom recoveries is the simplicity and availability of the file. TWRP recovery is available for almost all Android devices. However, for new phones, it may take some time for the version to be released. In addition, you will have many useful features such as performing a full Android backup, installing custom ROMs, rooting and much more.

Cos’è recovery TWRP Android?

TWRP technically stands for “Team Win Recovery Project” which is an open source custom recovery image for Android devices. However, it does require a condition, the phone’s bootloader must be unlocked. So TWRP is a custom recovery that you need to install on your phone to get the most out of your device. There are more custom recoveries like CWM but they don’t work as well. Installing TWRP recovery opens up a whole new world to custom ROMs, mods, apps that aren’t officially supported, and much more. TWRP Android has a touch interface while the official recoveries are based on the volume keys and power buttons.

Now the menu to restore Android is extremely limited and does not allow you to do practically anything, it simply allows you to install the official ROM or reset the phone. While with TWRP Android you can perform the installation of cooked ROMs and third party mods as well as the Xposed installer, Lineage OS etc. Installing TWRP voids your warranty, so decide if you should continue. If you remove TWRP and somehow revert to the official firmware, you may be able to recover the phone’s warranty. If you want to take full advantage of TWRP recovery, you need to know the advantages and disadvantages of installing TWRP on your Android phone.

Before installing TWRP recovery

How to install TWRP recovery without root

  1. First, download the file TWRP Recovery from the official website find your phone model.
  2. Extract the file zip of the platform SDK sul desktop.
  3. Copy the TWRP Recovery .img file to the platform SDK folder.
  4. Rename the recovery file to twrp.img.
  5. Now type “cmd” in the address bar of the SDK platform folder and press Enter.
  6. A command window will open.
  7. Connect your smartphone to the PC / Laptop and type the following command: adb reboot bootloader. (If you see a popup asking you to be authorized on your phone, you agree)
  8. The above command will boot the phone into bootloader / fastboot mode.
  9. Once the device boots into bootloader mode, type the following command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
  10. Once the Android TWRP has been successfully installed on your phone, type the last command to restart the device: fastboot reboot.
  11. That’s all. TWRP recovery was successfully installed on your device.

Before installing TWRP Recovery on Samsung Galaxy with Odin

The steps below only work with Samsung phones. So, don’t try these steps on other smartphones other than Samsung phones. Also, be sure to read the requirements before starting.

  1. Download the Odin tool on your PC / laptop. How to download the latest version of Odin
  2. Download TWRP Recovery file for your Samsung phone. (Make sure you download the .tar file) TWRP Recovery from the official website
  3. Make a full backup of your smartphone. Android backup, how do you do it?
  4. Fully charge your phone.

How to Install TWRP Recovery on Samsung Galaxy with Odin

  1. First, enable OEM unlocking on your phone. Go up Settings > Phone information > Tap Build number 6-7 times. This will enable developer options on your phone.
  2. Once again back to Settings > Developer options > enable OEM unlocking e debug USB.
  3. Now restart your phone in download mode.
    • Switch off the phone.
    • Then, hold the button down “Home + Power + Volume giù” until a warning screen appears.
    • Push the button Volume up to enter download mode.
  4. Once done, connect your Samsung Galaxy phone to the PC / laptop via the original USB cable.
  5. Now on your PC extract the Odin zip file to your desktop.
  6. Open the extracted folder and run the file Odin3 xxx.exe.
  7. Click on the tab option AP and select the TWRP recovery file. Make sure once again that the restore is a .tar file, otherwise it may cause some problems.
  8. Go to the options and uncheck the option Automatic restart.
  9. Now tap the button Start and wait a few minutes.
  10. Once completed, you will see the message PASS on Odin’s screen.
  11. That’s it, you have successfully installed TWRP recovery on your Samsung phone.

Now you can boot your phone into TWRP Recovery by holding the button Home + Power + Volume su until you see the Samsung logo on the screen, release all buttons and your device will boot into TWRP recovery mode.

Now that you have successfully installed TWRP recovery on your phone, you can go further and run root your device using Magisk. Download the latest Magisk zip v21 and Magisk Manager v8.0.0 and root your phone.
