For the 30th anniversary of Cooler Master, the company has announced several products, some more extravagant than others. And the strangest of all is the Sneaker X cabinet, which is shaped like a sneaker. Based on the work of the JMDF modderwho originally featured the design in the company’s 2020 Case Mod World Series.
It’s hard to get an idea of the actual size of the Sneaker X from the images. However, it is clearly not the size of a real sneaker.
CMWS2020- JMDF SNEAKER By JMDF
In the JMDF video shown, the feat of engineering and a great homage to sneaker culture, and that’s pretty big. The design was inspired by some of the expensive sneakers from brands like Balenciaga, Nike and Adidas.
As for what can fit inside, Cooler Master says that the Sneaker X can “house the latest CPU and GPU on the market, as well as an AIO cooler.” In the video we see a 600W power supply, this should put the size into perspective. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if some aspects of the design have changed in the Sneaker X from the original JMDF design.
The price of the Sneaker X cabinet has not been shared, but hopefully, it will be a bit less than the $3,999 cost for the JMDF handcrafted mod. Cooler Master will start taking pre-orders in the third quarter of 2022.
As for the Shark X, buyers will have to wait a little longer and be quick as Shark X case availability will be limited, but Cooler Master promises that Shark X PCs will be loaded with “premium specs” to suit to unique design. The Shark X is based on a CMODX mod called Leviathan by Inony. Again, no pricing information available, but the original Leviathan mod costs $5,699. Cooler Master set a possible release window for Q4 2022.
Shark X and Sneaker X are two of the strangest and most feature-rich case designs yet.
